A Little Bit Laura Ingalls

This post is random...and totally irelevant.

Read at your own risk, there are some cute pictures, but this could be a total waste of your time...

I'm just saying...

Anyways, last year Momo participated in "Mark Twain Days" at her school. Her class had just finished reading the Adventures of Tom Sawyer and they were learning about what life had been like for children of that time.

All the kids got dressed up in period costumes. The girls (and their moms) get really into it

I put together a great costume for Momo. She won first place for her pretty little outfit!

In addition to getting all dressed up and acting out some scenes from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, there were a ton of different things for the kids to do throughout the day.

Like "bobbing for donoughts"...

And a jump rope relay...

And square dancing...

All in all, it was a really fun day and it was pretty interesting to think about what life used to be like...

I mean, do you think Laura Ingalls ever did this?

  1. so cute! lol on the last one, I wasn't expecting that!

  2. She's a character, isn't she? A cute one, however, I must say!

Group photo - What is with the tall kid (boy?) in the back row with a curly blond wig? Everyone else looks so good! What a fun way of making it make sense for the kids after reading the book! Don't you wish more teachers were so creative?

This wasn't a wasted read at all!! I loved it!

  3. That last pic is priceless. I see you showing it at her rehersal dinner some day in the future and I love it!

  4. Erica Jean- I know, isn't that a hoot? Momo cracks me up on a daily basis...

Lynilu- The boy in the back wearing the blond wig was actually a student from a "sister school" we partnered with on this project (both schools are very small and often do things together) Anyways, their school had fewer girls than boys so he played a girl part in their play...I'm all for cross dressing, but did they really have to choose the tallest boy in the class and the only Asian to wear the blonde wig and a dress? It was weird!

Domestic Goddess- Oh, I will SOOOOOO do that!

  5. Gee, I would agree with you on that! Not only does he seem to stand out in a not pleasant way, but he seems less than thrilled!! Sheesh!

Quit lurking and drop me a comment...Puhleeeeze!
